CONCEPT
Fluid is an interactive installation that aims to reflect the concept of gender through music preferences.
The installation intends to showcase the relationship between music, gender, and color to illustrate how gender is performative and constructed by a series of actions. In this installation, music preferences will serve as the primary data input to visualize this cultural debate. The goal is to showcase the fluidity of gender as opposed to its fixed and binary meaning.
Data Input
To do this, we embraced the user's listening habits as the main data input.
Users can connect to their preferred music streaming services by scanning a QR code through their camera. This will allow them to log in to their accounts via their phone and synchronize their music with the main exhibition screen.
Data mirroring
Enabling us to design data visualizations to create an intimate conversation with the user.
Data processing: once the user synchronize with the main screen, they will be able to see the data breakdown on the main screen as it will be shown as a conversation between the user and the machine, mirroring the data retrieved.
Data Output
And ultimately, prompting users a reflection of their gender over their yearly tenure.
Data processing: Once the user synchronizes with the main screen, they will be able to see the data breakdown on the main screen, which will be shown as a conversation between the user and the machine, mirroring the data retrieved.
Dall-e allowed us to interpret the data onto a digital portrait reflecting the user’s gender, allowing people to analyze and contemplate the hegemonic, heterosexual standards of identity.
Making the invisible, visible.
IMMERSIVE SPACE
Once a user enters the capsule, the main and secondary screens transmit the final image based on the user’s playlist analyses.
The user is put into the intimate space face to face with his “second gender”. It allows to experience last immersive steps of the journey and lead it to the final stage - transmit the image through the socindary screen and share in on social media platfroms.
Final Image
At the end of the user's journey, they can contemplate an image that conjures their musical data compellingly and emotionally.
